HI guys i just installed a new VANCE & HINES BIG RADIUS 2 INTO 1 EXHAUST and and the intake system is coming in soon. I have been told that i need a tuning software for it to get tuned, if my memo serves me the software is called 'Super Tuning' What tuning software are u guys using? Btw my harley is 08 and from Rocker Family. Any input from u guys would be great.

From what you say that about not looking for a 'race machine' my preference would be the TFI and that you can do yourself with no maps or dynos needed. Again this is my preference that I have used many times and they do work at a minimal expense as compared to the others. IMO all the high dollar tuners do more than the TFI but we're dealing with a motor that is old in design and not meant by any means for top end racing. Adding some fuel only with the TFI will give you a very streetable bike. Is it 'tuned ' to the max? NO but then again you have to know the capabilities of the tuner himself before we can even begin to asses the situation.

The differences between the PC and the SERT are like apples and lemons. The SERT is a much better unit but requires a dyno tune to get the max out of it and the PC can have a canned map downloaded a bit easier as would the SERT but the SERT is a better option IMO.

No, there is no instructions or software provided with the VCI. YOu need to purchase the attachment cables and the training DVD separately. I have just reviewed the DVD and the 'tips' inside the tuning software. I am a computer geek but this is going to be a bit of a steep learning curve.

The cam timing has a big effect on the timing of the pressure wave in the intake manifold. Especially the IO and EC.

What I've done is buy a little 7' LCD monitor for my laptop and then mirror the laptop's main display onto it. I've mounted this little screen to my SatNav RAM mount on the handlebars. The laptop goes in my solo bag.

It’s basically how the ECM knows how much oxygen is in the air. It uses this information to correct the fuel mixture for air condition fluctuations – temp, pressure, humidity – caused by weather and altitude changes. If the MAP read is off, even if you calibrate your VE tables on a Dyno when the weather changes, the way the bike runs will change as well.

If you understand cam timing events, you may know that IO and EC determine valve overlap. It is critical you understand that the total degrees of overlap is not what we are looking at here. It is when the overlap occurs during the crankshaft rotation that matters for map selection. Pick a base map for a Screamin Eagle cam that has the same or as close as you can find Intake open degrees and exhaust closing degrees. The exhaust can affect the timing of the pressure wave as well. However, Screamin Eagle doesn’t give you many choices as far as exhaust systems.

We will discuss proper calibration of the ECM in the future, but for now you should understand that the goal of using a flash tuner is to calibrate the air tables (VE tables) in the ECM to match the air flow through your engine. The actual “tuning” is done after.

The user interface is dull compared to pro tuner but it does the samething and has Auto Tune to boot With the Techno Research tool you can also tune more than just harleys. As far as you exhaust and intake bolth tuners will come with some caned tunes. But honestly you could install thoes mods with no tuning at all. Worst case is some decel poping witch is fixed buy richening up to 12% your closed throttle overun on the fuel map witch is anything under 6.5% tps between 3-4500. I read a coment about dual VE maps this is true but not bad to tune at all.

It i should idle at 25-35 kpa and under a 100% throttle run the manifold pressure should match the air pressure in the room. I read the room pressure off the Dynojet Dyno. At sea level it should be close to 100 kpa. At higher elevations it should be less. Ambient air pressure will change some with the weather. At this point if possible, we would flatten the Air Fuel Table put the bike on a Dyno and dial in the VE tables.
